Coconut Sambal Recipe

Coconut Sambal Recipe

Ingredients :

    • Young grated skinned coconut – 180 g
    • Dhal – 1 tsp, roasted
    • Green chillies – 3, sliced
    • Ginger – 2 slices
    • Yoghurt – 2 Tbsp
    • Salt – 11/4 tsp
    • Water – 430 ml
    • Cooking oil – 2 Tbsp
    • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
    • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
    • Dried chillies – 2, soaked to soften and cut into 0.5-cm pieces

Method :

    1. Combine grated coconut, dhal, green chillies, ginger, yoghurt, salt and water and blend (process) into a smooth paste.
    2. Heat oil in saucepan and stir-fry mustard leaves, curry leaves and dried chillies.
    3. Pour paste in and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and use as a dip or serve with rice or thosai.

Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minutes
