Sambal Belachan – Prawn Paste Chilli Sauce

This much-loved sambal can be served with almost any meal.

Ingredients :

  • 10 red finger-length chillies, deseeded and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons belachan (dried prawn paste), toasted
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/teaspoon salt

Method :

Grind all the ingredients in a mortar or blender to make a coarse paste. Keeps in the refrigerator for about 1 week.

Makes 3/4 cup (185 ml)
