Sticky Rice with Beans Recipe

Ingredients :

    • 450 g (21/4cups) uncooked glutinous rice, soaked in water for 4 hours, rinsed and drain
    • 120 g (1/2 cup) dried yellow mung beans
    • 100 g (1/2 cup) dried red beans
    • 100 g (1/2 cup) dried black beans
    • 1 teaspoon salt

Method :

    1. Soak the dried beans in cold water for at least 4 hours, with at least 2 changes of water.
    2. Boil the beans separately until lightly tender. Do not overcook; as they will fall apart and turn mushy. Drain and rinse with cold water. Drain again.
    3. Combine the rice, beans and salt in a bowl. Line a bamboo steamer with a cheesecloth and spread the rice mixture evenly on it. Steam for 20–25 minutes, then turn the rice over and steam for 10 more minutes until the rice is cooked and the beans are tender. Remove from the heat and serve the rice with beans as a side dish.
